July 7, 2023. KPBS. Excerpts: “Some insurance carriers have stopped writing new homeowner policies in California. The most recent are the largest so far: Allstate and State Farm.” “Soller noted that auto insurance in California functions a little differently. California has a good driver law. It requires every insurance company writing private passenger coverage to insure good drivers,” he said, adding that most Californians are good drivers, thus giving them options.”
